Being a Blonde

Being a Blonde

Quite often I get questions about my hair, the cut, the colour and the length. Ive done a couple of videos on You Tube trying my best to answer these questions for anyone whos interested, but the same questions still keep popping up, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to answer those questions now, and tell my story on how I became a blonde.

Length:
I get a lot of questions about the length of my hair, a huge amount of the questions are asking how I grow my hair so long or do I wear hair extensions. I feel weirdly as though Im bragging by replying no its real but the truth is I dont have any miracle secrets to how I have long hair, apart from the fact that when I was younger my Mum always put me off having it cut saying I would regret it! At the time I wanted a trendy bob like my friends, but now I actually thank her for it!

Cut:
I used to have the obsession with wanting a side sweeping fringe, I thought they looked so good on other girls and celebs so I would always have it cut in at the salon, but for some reason they just dont suit me though, maybe its to do with my face shape? so now Im letting the side fringe grow out and tend to part my hair at the side. Layers wise, I have a few shorter layers put in to help achieve a bit more volume, I used to have really short layers cut in, but again ive been gradually growing them out for a while now.

Colour:
My natural hair is a light mousey brown colour. I think its quite a common hair colour and also a bit of a boring one that many girls like to change as they get older. I started getting highlights at a salon at the age of about 14, thats quite young though, as the recommended age to start colouring your hair is about 16. Never the less you start to get to an age where you want to experiment with your hair and makeup, and thats exactly what I did. I only had a few blonde highlights put through to start with, but over the years its gone gradually lighter and lighter.

Ive been few different shades of blonde over the past 8 years, a few times going platinum blonde, but I feel that colour washes me out as I have fair skin and it can end up looking brassy over time. Ive even gone for chocolate brown and blonde streaks in the past! (never again!) The colour I have now is one Im happy with and have stuck to for about the last 18 months, its a warm enough colour to compliment my skin tone, but as I usually have 3 different blonde shades put through my hair, its quite multi-tonal too. Now I know the subtle changes from light blonde to darker blonde dont exactly make me adventurous when it comes to changing my hair colour. But I love being blonde and cant see me wanting to go any other colour in the near future!

If your thinking of starting your journey to blonde locks, or simply want to change to a shade that will really compliment your age, skin tone and even your personality, then Garnier have put together a fabulous 4 part colour consultation video, with lots of helpful tips about their Nutrisse Crème hair colour range.
